The Project
Improving aerobic endurance is a constant need in elite basketball. In addition to the aerobic component, anaerobic mechanisms are of great importance for success in basketball, with anaerobic strength being prominent, followed by anaerobic capacity. A recommendation for all coaches is to dedicate more attention to exercises of maximum intensity and short duration. Agility, as one of the key qualities in basketball, fits easily into all phases of conditioning preparation, and such adaptability should be utilized.
Plyometric training, as a method for developing explosive strength, is also applicable in all phases, and its implementation can be an effective approach for enhancing agility. In specific conditioning preparation, the focus is on transforming agility and explosive strength (among other things) through the integration of conditioning and technical training. Conditions are created that remarkably resemble game situations, where a collection of various specific scenarios occurs to better adapt basketball players to novel competitive conditions.
